Roger Vivier Buys The World's Most Expensive Shoes

by Administrator | 5 comments

The price tag was a staggering 19,750 euros (approximately $26,629.06). And the pair of shoes happened to be an original Roger Vivier design from 1962. They were created for Princess Soraya, who was married to the late Shah of Iran. roger vivier, the French luxury accessory house revived by Todís owner Diego della Valle eight years ago, acquired the shoes at an auction of Roger Vivierís (the shoe designer who invented the stiletto heel) personal collection in France on November 30. The shoes are low heeled pumps embroidered with silver thread and adorned with topaz. The auction prize it reached was record-breaking. In an effort to keep Monsieur Vivierís personal collection intact rather than have it sold to different bidders, the Roger Vivier team (Della Valle, artistic director Bruno Frisoni and brand ambassador Ines de la Fressange) set up an alliance with the the French Shoe Federation and the French State to buy majority of the collection which included footwear designed for Elizabeth Taylor and John Lennon. This kind of move to preserve someoneís legacy first made headlines when Daphne Guinness bought Isabella Blowís entire fashion collection rather than having it auctioned off to strangers by Christieís.
